Sick Pay Benefit

Protecting you in case of Sickness 

Active members are covered for Sick Pay benefit of €50.00 per day payable while they are absent from work through illness or injury. A benefit of €125 per day for the first five days per calendar year. Thereafter, a weekly amount of €250. This is managed by CWPS via the Construction Workers' Sick Pay Trust. 

Sick Pay benefit is provided at a very low weekly cost of €0.63 to members and €2.37 to employers. This means that a member’s family is protected during vulnerable times of sickness or injury and the benefit is payable in addition to any benefit that may be due to the member from the Department of Social Protection. The rates have changed and are effective from 5 August 2024

Retiring on the grounds of permanent ill health

If a member is unable to work again at their occupation in the Construction Industry due to permanent ill health, they may be able to claim their retirement benefit from CWPS earlier than age 60. Please see the requirements for claiming this benefit here.
